The missing ingredient

The missing ingredient

In the middle of last night, while feeding my 2-week-old baby, inspiration hit once again. I’ve been trying to write a picture book for my older daughter for a year now – the idea is there, but somehow it never seemed quite right. When you write picture books, you have so few words to tell the tale that everything has got to be spot on. That’s why many authors say picture books are the hardest books to write! But last night, everything fell into place and I’ve discovered what the missing ingredient is, without actually trying.

Fortunately, I suspect there will be a great many more night feeds to come. So by the time Baby sleeps through the night, I’ll probably have another 10 picture books sorted!
