Nightmare!

Nightmare!

Have you ever had a recurring dream or nightmare? Or maybe just a scene which plays itself over and over again while you sleep? For 2 nights running I’ve dreamt about the same scene. And I’m yet to figure out the significance (there must be a reason for it or perhaps I’m just completely mad).

These striking dreams or nightmares usually end up featuring in my stories. I still remember some of my nightmares from when I was a child. Something about them just sticks because the emotion behind the nightmarish event was and is so strong…

I’m not complaining, I think it’s great. To have these colourful and terrifying scenes playing out in your head is incredibly useful when you’re planning a novel. If you have bad dreams, write them down: the colours, the fear…and why exactly was it scary? Treat your dreams as a valuable resource.

As for me, I suspect my dream will stop recurring once I finally work out what it’s about or where in my writing it’s supposed to be!
