27 Oct Monsters shortlisted for Roald Dahl Funny Prize!
The monsters and I are thrilled that ‘Do Not Enter the Monster Zoo’ has made the shortlist for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize!
Bless their huge hairy hearts, don’t they look pleased?! (Although the one on the left appears to have a touch of stage fright).
Brought to life by the fabulously talented Sara Ogilvie and published by Red Fox, the book is one of six picture books in the ‘Funniest Book For Children Aged Six and Under’ category.
All the shortlisted books look brilliant – congratulations to everyone who has made The List. It is high praise indeed to be nominated for this prize and even if the monsters don’t go on to win, I’m thrilled we have come this far (and I shall console the beasts with copious amounts of chocolate). You can find out more about the prize and the shortlisted books here
It’s wonderful to have a book prize that appreciates humour / wackiness / downright silliness. After all, the world would be far more boring without such things! And my life would be far more boring if I wasn’t writing and giggling in a silly manner about silly things at silly times of the day.
So, a great big hurrah for all things hilarious and fingers/paws/claws/eyes crossed for the monsters at the ceremony on 10th December! At least we know it’ll be a giggle.
